The paper “Communication via female resistance: sexual behavioral modulation and mutual mate choice determinants in a scorpion” published in the journal Animal Behavior received the Elsevier award for the best paper of 2024 in the “Geographic” category. This paper, carried out by Mariela Oviedo-Diego and collaborators, explores sexual behaviors of the Cordoba endemic scorpion species Urophonius achalensis. In a particular scenario of mutual choice, both sexes seem to modulate their behaviors in a detailed way, establishing communication channels that have not been explored so far. Congratulations to the research team!
